David Nolan Gallery is pleased to host the launch of "Dictionary of Living Irish Artists" by Robert O’Byrne on Tuesday, November 2nd from 6 - 8 pm.

The book includes an entry on David Nolan Gallery artist, Alice Maher.

Written by arts commentator, Robert O’Byrne, the Dictionary of Living Irish Artists covers 200 artists and includes such pre-eminent names as Sean Scully, Michael Craig-Martin, Hughie O’Donoghue, Alice Maher, Dorothy Cross and Kathy Prendergast as well as many young practitioners based in Ireland and overseas. With incisive style, Robert O’Byrne has produced an impressive volume featuring high quality full colour images of each artist’s work alongside extensive biographical information. The Dictionary of Living Irish Artists is the only reference work of its kind, a must-have for collectors, dealers and anyone with an interest in contemporary Irish art. Above all, it is a superb showcase for Irish art and culture at home and abroad. Works by two of the featured artists, Elizabeth Magill and Sarah Walker, recently sold well above their estimate in the Lehman Brothers auction at Sotheby’s in New York.

The book will be launched in the David Nolan Gallery, 527 W 29th Street, (between 10th and 11th) New York, Tuesday 2 November at 6.00pm. The event is supported by Culture Ireland.

Robert O’Byrne writes extensively on Irish art and culture for The Irish Times, the Irish Arts Review and Apollo. He has published ten books, chief amongst which is the definitive biography of Hugh Lane, the Irish-born international art collector, whose prescient sense of collecting formed the basis of the Dublin City Gallery enviable treasury of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist work.

The book retails at 99 US Dollars and will be available at a special preview price of 85 USD at the book launch.
