1998
The landscape of Carroll Dunham's in this series of drawings is dominated by eyeless demons. Although depicted as hardly more than personified rectangles, their rage and sex organs are distinctly Homo sapien. Using knives, guns, and sex as weapons in a pantomime of inexhaustible frenzy, the creatures can be seen as humanity distilled and condensed into an extract.
