ART BASEL PARIS: Booth 0.C14

Grand Palais, Paris, October 22 - 26, 2025

David Nolan Gallery is delighted to present a salon-style installation of master works on paper for its debut at Art Basel Paris. Featuring works spanning nearly a century - from the 1920s to the present – this presentation honors the gallery’s core.

This selection of works brings together artists of diverse nationalities - Guatemalan, German, Brazilian, Canadian-American, Iraqi-American, Chilean, among others. Each has turned to drawing as a vital mode of expression, exemplifying the practice’s ability to transcend the artist’s cultural or stylistic identity. The installation utilizes the fundamental nature of drawing to map unexpected pairings across generations and geographies. With a salon-style display, the works are in conversation with one another, altering or enhancing their initial perceived meaning through conscious curatorial pairings.

The presentation spans a wide spectrum: from abstraction to representation, realism to surrealism, swiftly executed sketches to intricately done compositions, as well as collages, assemblages, and inventive interventions on paper. Themes explored shift between the quotidian, the political, the spiritual, the erotic, and the mythological, reflecting the complexities of the human condition and its entanglements with violence, pleasure, and transcendence. Works on paper, despite the identity, nationality, or even intention of the artist, have a grounding, unifying quality that, when paired together, can broaden the possibilities of the age-old medium.
