"Veteran dealer David Nolan is projecting confidence with a big move from a second-floor space in an Upper East Side townhouse to the street-level, 6,000-square-foot space in Tribeca that was left behind in March by London dealer Timothy Taylor. Nolan is launching the season with the first New York show in nearly 25 years of Italian painter Valerio Adami, represented by works from the 1960s. “Clients are feeling very supportive and helpful,” he said, ticking off sales of works by various artists that happened over the previous two weeks, including paintings and drawings from Adami’s show as well as a Willem de Kooning work on paper for “a lot of money."
“Every year I seem to be working harder,” said Nolan. “I’d like to think in my mid-60s I could relax, but I’m doing three art fairs before Christmas. You have to stay in the game and work very hard and pay attention, but I’m optimistic. I think this year will be just fine.”
